SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE

Although change is a universal principle, we believe there are still constants in our lives; relying on the same people to do a second job because they did the first one right, or replacing things with the same or similar components because that’s what worked in the past.

So, when a force of nature known to all as Hurricane Irma changed the landscape of the Caribbean Island of Saint-Martin/Sint Maarten, The Westin Dawn Beach Resort and Spa became a JW Marriott St. Maarten Beach Resort & Spa with the same owners. A complete renovation of the hotel took place, and VerdeSol was once again asked to install a rooftop solar system.

The hotel transition took place before our very eyes, literally, because my partner and I were there on the roof every day for months with our local crew – the same crew we’ve used for years. They taught us how to configure a T-shirt around our heads so it looked like something you’d wear in a desert sandstorm. They warned us about the daily pop-up thunderstorms before we could even see them, then pulled us under their makeshift shelters until they passed. And, we worked hard right by their sides.

Together, we set out over 1,000 tubs as part of Sollega’s mounting hardware system and weighted them with ballast blocks for added strength against the high winds. We installed over 2,000 Jinko modules, along with 16 Chint (CPS) inverters, then made sure they all worked in tandem by installing miles of wire so aesthetically pleasing you’d need to lie down on the roof and look under the modules to even find any.

And if you were lucky enough to have visited The Westin all those years ago and are planning another trip to the Caribbean, you’ll still find a lot of the same smiles on those same faces of the same employees because of those constants in our lives, and in keeping with VerdeSol’s belief that SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE.
